Subject: Question Help losing 2 pounds safely!
My 10 year old is trying to lose 2 pounds to drop a class. Does anyone have any safe tips for doing so? We've never done this before so any suggestions would be appreciated.

moderate portions of fruit an vegtables always help no fat or calories its easy in and easy out an the fruit is mostly water the easy weight to lose! water or fruit juice no pop!! the less weight your boy has on his body the longer it will take but i would at least give him a week to try!!

We have until Saturday morning...what about protein & carbs? Ex...what can I send for lunch?

I have a 14 year son that has to drop 2 lbs every week for weigh in. We do not start watching his food intake until Wednesday/Thursday. I do not allow my son to drink anything but water. (Fruit Juice is the same as pop) For breakfast on Thursday he eats dry cereal or a cereal bar. Lunch he likes to take Marathon or Cliff Bar and for dinner we keep it light. Friday is the most crucial day and it's about the weight of the food he is eating. My son usually can drop about a pound in his sleep. The hardest week was the first week we dropped the weight, now it is pretty easy to keep off. My suggestion is that you talk to his coach as everyone has a different opinion on how to pull weight.

Don't let him pull weight!!! Let him enjoy wrestling!! What matters is his SENIOR year in HIGHSCHOOL!!!!!

I agree, no matter how bad a child wants to lose weight, its up to us as parents to put limits on it. If you decide to lose the 2 lbs keep wrestling the same weight and hope to get there by regionals, if you start cutting now, thats what wrestling will become. There is alot of stress for some kids(and parents) to get the weight off, and eventually it will become no fun. My son weights 50lbs and we wrestle 55 and believe me I am more relaxed and my son eats what and when he wants. Good luck and remember if you choose to lose it go slow.

take your time, no fruit (turns to sugar too), no starches. Water only to drink all of the time, small amount of meat and green vegetable at nights, you will be there next week (if not, no food friday night will take care of it)
