Who are the favorites to win State this year in Division IV? Besides of course Gary Wayne Harding
Subject: Re: Favorites to Win State
C. Kelley (Marauders)
Subject: Re: Favorites to Win State
Div. IV 84 - Tanner Bailey
Subject: Re: Favorites to Win State
73 - Brock
76 - Jeffries 80 - Wolfenberger 84 T. Bailey 88 - Harding 92 Hamilton 96 White 100 Simon
Subject:
73 Zack Edwards is my guess.
Subject: Re: Favorites to Win State
I could see where you could pick Edwards for state champ. Will Brock and Edwards be on opp sides? That would make for a great finals match up. Any history between the two this year or has Brock mostly been at 76?
Subject: Re: Favorites to Win State
Think Edwards went 70#.
Subject: Re: Favorites to Win State
If Edwards is at 70, let's put him as the fav to win 70. Any others or any disagreements?

Subject: Re: Favorites to Win State
I will take Hansen at 70 Daulphin 73, jeffries 76, Lindsey 80 Townsend 84 harding88
Subject: Re: Favorites to Win State
I still say C. Kelly at 84. He is a great wrestler!!
Subject: Re: Favorites to Win State
I disagree with edwards winning state at 70. I would think simmons is the fav.
Subject: Re: Favorites to Win State
what about boooooooo
Subject: Re: Favorites to Win State
We'll it should be Boo and Peircefull in the finals @70 if they opp sides.
Subject: Re: Favorites to Win State
there's a guy named ryan heiden from sapulpa that has great technique and keeps getting better by the week im looking for him to be a strong contender at either 73 or 76.
Subject: Re: Favorites to Win State
ryan heiden is a good wrestler. but he is no where near the level of boo lewallen, caid brock, jeffries, simmons, perciful, hansen, mefford, no offense but good wrestlers wrestle good tournaments. for example they dont skip catoosa to wrestle a 2 man tournament in blackwell
Subject: Re: Favorites to Win State
like i said he gets better each week good wrestlers dont care who their competition is besides he beat a returing state placer twice at that tournament from ponca city pretty handlely. i dont see how wrestling the same people each week at every tournament makes someone better unless its john smith and despite your opinion theres no one here with even close that technique. i just think by the time high school comes you will be hearing hiedens name much more than your piks. It may not be this year or next but who remembers and elementary state champion anyway i won three and junior and high school state but no one cares about junior high and elementary titles not any college coaches its all about that senior year. Yea hes not the total package now but i look for him to win a couple of high school titles. catoosa tournament is a joke by the way.

Some wrestlers have proven themselves over the years and always improve every year. Point is sometimes kids come out that are new and surprise you how well they pick up the sport. It still takes time to be able to be on the level of kids named above, you cant teach kids mat awarness that is something that is learned over years and has to be developed. Good luck this season.
Subject: Re: Favorites to Win State
I beg to differ i think all aspects of this sport can be taught even mat awareness it doesnt take 5 or six years for a person to excel at this sport with the correct coaching it can be done in two or three depends on how bad a kid or person wants to learn and how often they take it upon themselves to do so. that is something that is hard to teach but again it can be done. Although we has humans do have different god given talents we first have to learn how to use these talents anything can be learned as well as taught in this sport as long as the kid is willing to and wants to learn even from defeat he learns maybe even more so than winning every match.

I agree but have seen some boys this year that are fairly new that are on the brink of beating some of these more expierence kids! I think by the end of season it will be very very close
Subject: Re: Favorites to Win State
Whatever

i think it would be really hard for a new, inexperienced wresler to win a large tourney like State or even JOC. They could maybe place, but I doubt they could win. jmo

I wish all kids success, even the young men & women just now starting the sport. But I cant see kids like Lewellan, Simmons, Jefferies, Brock, Perciful, Bailey, Simon even Hanson (to name a few) loosing to a first or second year wrestlers. It amuses me when a new/beginner kid has success at a local tournament & their parents or coach gets on here & throws their name out there & makes that kids a target. If a wrestler is that good it will show & we will soon know his name. Dont hype them up & if they fail everyone is slightly embarassed. Go beat a OK State Champ, USJOC Champ or anyone who places at a Roller event before you start talking..Good luck to all...jmo
