Wow!! if you go to youtube.com and search on "Soutern director Steve Myers" you will see two videos showing him refusing to show bank statements to a room full of people. He is one of our OKWA officers. I'm not sure who posted these videos, but as members of OKWA someone should be asking some questions.

People started asking questions why Steve Meyeres would not show bank statements to show here money went and Jerry has shutdown the forum. I think there needs to be an investigation.

Southern region director never refused to show bank records, he refused to give that group copies of the bank records. They were told with the exception of two people in that group, they were welcome to sit down with him and go over the bank records. They refused. The meeting was 1:45 minutes long, they choose to show you 6 minutes that made the director look bad. From what I hear the records my been turned over to their attorney and to the OKWA. There was even a letter sent out from Mr. Meyer to the other southern region teams letting them know what was going on and opening the records to them. In this day and ago, I don't believe anyone would be willing to hand over copies of their bank statements.
All this is a power struggle with someone wanting the directors job, who knows he can't get it any other way. Sad that people are so quick to believe the worst in people with getting all the fact.

I like Jerry and appreciate all he does. Although I wish he would not shut down the forum. I realize the Myers are his friend but if people were just stating the facts about wrestling topic and not name calling then it should stay on I participate in OKWA and I am from the south region and I am not a board member but I would like very much to know what is going on.

I watched the video and no matter how long it was, paying your son $600.00 for one days work it looks bad!!!!

The EMT was not paid 600.00 it was 500.00, I have the profit and loss statement given out for Novice State. As I remember the EMT also worked for Novice State at weigh in the night before, I remember seeing him there helping with ring worm and other issue's. I was also sitting in the hospility room, when one of SWOWA scales went down and the EMT had to go get his for them to use. If I remember right, novice state from start to finish was 15 hours long. I belong to SWOWA and don't agree with the things they are doing, just don't want to speak up and have them turn on me. They seem to be a group of bullies any more.

yo don't see anything wrong with him paying his son to work a tournament? you don't see anything wrong with him refusing to show bank statements. Everyone said he could mark out the ssn and account number and he still refused. That is not how you operate a non profit orginization. If there is fraud going on at the SWOWA level, then what about at the OKWA level?

this is the same guy who allowed a kid from his own club to wrestle novice state when he was clearly not a novice kid.

Based on the history of this guy, you have to wonder. I think the best thing that could happen is that the books for SWOWA should be audited by a government agency.

From listening to the video it sounded to me that he paid him $500.00 for novice state and then $600.00 for open regionals. I may be wrong, I was not at the meeting I just watched the video. They said he seemed to be a nice man, and he probably is I don't know him. But even the nicest guy can make mistakes or a wrong decesion. I agree this needs to be audited. And if he and his wife have a vote at the OKWA that does not seem very good. I know his wife does a lot with this sport like helping enter kids points I think, but a husband and wife on a board is like having two votes. If they need help in the southern region I would be more than happy to help. Again I have no first hand knowledge of what is going on. I am just concerned citizen of the southwest region. So may statement may not be correct I am just going from the video I watched. I hope it was just an honest mistake and we will learn from this in the future. But we should find out if anything shady is going on. Good Luck to all.

His wife does not have a vote. The Secretary and Treasurer do not ever get a vote, the President only votes to break ties. Also - from the bylaws, records ONLY have to be turned over to the executive board of the OKWA, not every Tom, Dick and Harry.

bylaws do not govern accounting practices of a non profit organization. If a member of a non-profit organization is committing fraud, then people have a right to know. it Seems that alot of people are tyring to brush this under the rug!!!

No one is saying anything! If this is not addressed in the short term, we need to report this to the appropriate agency!

the last time I knew someone in charge of wrestling club that would show the books, that person was stealing from the club. it wasn't discovered until a year later that person had stolen $10,000 out of the club account.

if there is fraud or theft, then that person is stealing from kids! There needs to be an audit.

i haven't seen any kind of response from OKWA... what is their position?
